I couldn't agree more. If you look at some of the very good UI ideas that have come out of videogames such as The Sims, or how well context menu works in various RTS. Or even how different related info are grouped together in Morrow wind 4. Then compare that to say for example, the new Office 2007. You'll realize there is much borrowing to be done. :)
